10 tips how to raise a smart child
Any parent wants the best for their child, and we all hope that our kid will be the next sensation in sports or music, or academia, or the next CEO of some major corporation – or even president of the United States!
The good news is that whatever IQ your kid is born with you can certainly make him or her smarter with proper nurturing. Here are ten tips how to make your child smarter.
1. Provide a home for you kid that is filled with love and joy. This fosters a positive outlook on life for the child. A positive outlook is characteristic of the most successful people in the world.
2. Respond promptly to the needs of your baby. Babies expect their needs to be fulfilled promptly – it’s hardwired in them, and they don’t know anything different until they are a bit older. When you can respond promptly to their needs this goes a long way to reducing stress and anxiety in your child’s temperament, both of which are learned responses to life.
3. Talk and count to your baby as often as possible. It doesn’t matter if it’s just a newborn! Research shows that babies start listening in to the world around them inside their mother’s womb. Talking to your baby helps develop their cognitive skills.
4. Be enthusiastic, energetic, and happy when talking, counting, playing, and stimulating your baby. Remember that as you do life that is most likely how your child will do life. You’re in essence training your kid to want to be enthusiastic, energetic and happy. All these traits are crucial for success in life!
5. Read to your baby every day as often as possible. This is an extension on the talking we discussed above.
6. Read the cues and temperament of your baby. And so, you should stop reading or stimulating her at the earliest sign of tiredness or signs that the child is bored. As your child grows they will start to have adult-like feelings of their own. Learn to respect their feelings.
7. Limit or even eliminate how much TV they watch or time they spend on computer games, smart phones, etc. until the child is at least 6 years old. Today we live in a world full of technology. Research is showing that too much exposure to technology at an early age is not a good thing neither for you nor your baby.

8. Always avoid shouting, fighting or being angry when your baby is watching, or is within hearing distance. Remember that how you do life is most likely how your child will do life. Anger and conflict are both negative emotions and they can do a lot of damage to your child’s emotional intelligence.
9. Provide your kid with adequate books and toys to stimulate their brain. Play is especially important for a child’s developing brain. Books are a growing child’s passport into the wider world.
10. Maintain a stable and intact family. This is critical for developing well-rounded, well-adjusted, self-confident children. Unfortunately, we live in a world where divorce and family strife has become something of a norm. Do whatever it takes if you can to provide a stable and intact family for your kids.
